*    104      INT.     ADDITIVES ROOM.   PUMPING STATION.   DAY.   104. *

              This is the place where the Water Company would
              make any additions to the water supply such as
              fluoride.    Anything the room can do to support
              this notion - safety instructions? - would help.

              Here we find SALLY.    She is placing the
              containers of mutated Phodex in a chamber.  We do
              not see if she still has the gun.

              She closes the access doors to the chamber and
              moves to a control panel, so hi-tech it could have
              dropped out of the USS Enterprise.
              Touch-sensitive controls:  i.e. a flat lighted
              panel rather than switches and knobs.

     105.     INT.  PUMPING STATION.  AREA BELOW ADDITIVES ROOM. 105.
*             DAY.                                                      *

              BECKETT looks up and can see an unidentifiable        *
              FIGURE through a large glass window of the room it    *
              is in.

              He begins to climb an inspection ladder, this
     *        being the quickest route.    As he climbs he makes    *
              the mistake of looking down.    It's a long drop.

     *                                                              *
              BECKETT reaches the room.    He peers through the
     *        door, no siqn of anybody.    He takes one cautious    *
              step forward and freezes - the barrel of the gun
              is at the nape of his neck.

              *                     BECKETT            *
              *            Zander, don't do anything   *
              *            rash.                       *

              *                     SALLY              *
              *            It's not Mr Zander you have   *
              *            to worry about.               *

              *                     BECKETT              *
              *            Where is Zander?              *

              *                    SALLY               *
              *          Feeding the fish.             *

         She puts something round his wrists.    BECKETT
         struggles but it is too late, in an instant she
         has tied his hands together.    He looks behind her
         and sees that she has used one of those plastic
         strips that electricians use to lock cables
         together.

                              SALLY
                    Don't try and struggle -
                    you'll only tear your wrists
                    open.

         SALLY pushes him into the room.

                              SALLY
                     I suppose you being here
                     means the money isn't.

                              BECKETT
                     Why are you doing this?
                     You don't want to kill those
                     people - a nice girl like
                     you .

                              SALLY
                          (angry)
                     I warned you not to
                     patronise me.

         SALLY wrenches on the plastic, tightening the
         bonds on BECKETT's wrists.    He flinches.

                              SALLY
                    Why isn't Lennox taking me
                    seriously?

                              BECKETT
                    He was unconscious last time
                    I saw him.   He's probably
                    dead by now.

                               SALLY
                    You could have got the
                    money.    You still can get
                    the money.    I'm sure there
                    are many who'd pay plenty
                    for the privelege of
                    drinking pure water.
            

                                 SALLY
            *           I'll show you how serious I    *
                        am.

            She walks over to the control panel and indicates
            the chamber.

                                 SALLY
                      When I turn this, water
                      enters the chamber here and
                      mixes with the mutated
                      Phodex.   When the water
                      level reaches this outflow -
                           (she points)
                      the dissolved Phodex will
                      enter the Main Water
                      Supply . .
                           (beat)

            BECKETT watches with horror as she jabs at a
            control on the touch-sensitive control panel a jet
            of water bursts into the chamber.  The water
            begins to fill the chamber, mixing with the
            Phodex.  The level begins to rise.


*   106.    INT.  LENNOX'S OFFICE.  NEW EARTH FOODS.  DAY.       106. *

            The bleeps are now almost a constant stream of
            sound.

            On the screen, the time continues to move:    now
            showing MON, the time moves through 0500, 0700,
            0800, 0830, finally 0900.

            With a loud click the time-lock releases.

            ED turns to GLASS, elated.
