         He holds out his hand for the special case of

         Reluctantly HUNTER hands it over.    EASTERHAUS
*        circles round, keeping his back to the lift and      *
         the gun aimed at BECKETT and HUNTER.


139.     INT.   LEVEL 19.    (HOSPITAL AND GYM FLOOR).       139.
         TOWER BLOCK.    DAY.

         The lift appears at ROS' level and stops.    ROS
         gives the bomb trolley a final gentle push and it
         sails into the lift.    The lift then starts again
         and continues to move up.


140.     INT.   LEVEL 43.     TOWER BLOCK.   DAY.            140.

         HUNTER and BECKETT watch as EASTERHAUS waits for
         the lift.

                               EASTERHAUS
                      I think this is goodbye ..

         The lift arrives.     EASTERHAUS steps backwards
         into the lift, keeping his eyes fixed on BECKETT
         and HUNTER and not noticing the bomb.    The lift
         begins to move.


141.     INT.   LIFT.   (MOVING).    TOWER BLOCK.   DAY.     141.

         EASTERHAUS turns round, finds he sharing the lift
         with his bomb.

         INSERT:     Last ballbearing rolls down towards the
         bottom of the clock.

         EASTERHAUS looks horrified.

         The bomb explodes.


142.     INT.   LEVEL 43.     TOWER BLOCK.   DAY.            142.

         BECKETT and HUNTER take cover as a fireball fills
         the lift shaft.

         TOWER BLOCK.       DAY.

         ROS opens her eyes.       She's still alive.   She
         grins.

                                 ROS
                            (into mic)
                        Ed - you have got to work on
                        your timing!


144      INT.         GIZMOS.   DAY.                          144.

         It is some time later.         BECKETT, in some kind of
         PE kit, using a Nordicsport style ski machine.
         He does not look happy.    ED stands with him, in
         tracksuit, with a gold medal hanging round his
         neck.   BECKETT stops "skiing"

                              BECKETT
                   That's enough for today.

                            ED
                   You've only just started.
                   Trust me.    You'll feel
                   great.    Maybe you'll win
                   one of these one day ...

         BECKETT just glares at him as ED fingers his gold
         medal.   ROS is standing nearby, watching all of
         this.    She pitches in.

                              ROS
                   Best aerobic exercise you
                   can  get  -  skiing.

                              BECKETT
                   Haven't you heard - too much
                   sport is bad for your
                   health.

                               ROS
         *         So is too little sport.         *

                               ED
         *         You know what they say -        *
                   healthy body, healthy mind.

                              BECKETT
         *          That's easy for you to say,   *
                    even your muscles have got
         *          muscles.                      *

                    Well almost ...

         He takes the gold medal hanging round his neck,
         rips off the foil and eats it to the amazement of
         BECKETT and ROS.
