                  It's obviously a cover.  In
                  three days' time, all the other
                  factions are set to meet in the
                  capital to carve up the region
                  between them and leave Maliq's
                  tiny army exactly nowhere.

                                 ED
                  He's here to pick up his
                  equaliser.

                                   ROLAND
                  And if he can get back and use
                  it in exactly seventy-two hours'
                  time...

                                    ROS
                  No peace accord.

                                 HECKETT
                  No conference chamber.

                                   ED
                  No more competition.

                                  ROLAND
                  Have you traced Cassandra
                  Neumann yet?

                                  ED
                  I'm getting a fix on her car.

*   7/25   INT.   GOVERNOR'S OFFICE.   DAY.                      7/25.  *

           A loud buzz.  The GOVERNOR sits at his desk.  The
           drawer's open, there's a mirror propped on the
           desktop and he's running a cordless razor over his
           chin to remove his five o'clock shadow.

           There's a knock at his door.

           Hastily, he switches off the razor and sweeps
           everything into the open drawer as he stands.

          He beams.

                                GOVERNOR                                     *
*                 Welcome.
                                                                             *
*         CASSANDRA is standing there.  Shoulder pads, power
          suit and a briefcase.

                                CASSANDRA
*                 Thank you.

                                GOVERNOR
*                 I've been expecting you.  Now
                  what would you like to know?

                                CASSANDRA
*                 Everything.   I'm keen to know                             *
                  everything about the way our new
                  acquisition operates.



*   7/26.   INT.   PRISON CELL.   DAY.                               7/26.

            JEAN-DANIEL, seated at his computer array, looks at
            his watch.

            He hits a key and rises.

            Moving to the door, he raps on the inside.  On the
            knock, we Cut To:

* 7/27.     INT.   PRISON CELL.   DAY.                               7/27.  *

            The reqular female GUARD comes towards us.

            She moves to look in through the window, where she
*           sees..

            JEAN-DANIEI, walking away from the door and toward
            his array.  Not rushing, all very deliberate.  He
            turns to her and smiles, as if performing for her.
            All the computer screens show a blank background.


           JEAN-DANIEL raises one hand, fingers slightly spread
           and slowly moves it behind one of the monitors.

           Monitor:  On the screen, an image of his hand begins
           to appear in from the edge of the frame at exactly
           the same speed.  From this angle, it looks as if
           he's pushing his hand in through the side of the
           monitor to re-appear inside in video form.  A visual
           trick.  Like a party piece.

           He withdraws it part-way, pushes it in again.
