SYNOPSIS

This episode is the second and concluding part of the story begun in Episode 9.

Adam is still trying to escape from the Hive with the Catflap disk he has stolen. Alex sees Adam take her car from the car park and drive away, dodging the Hive Agents who try to stop him. No one but Alex manages to identify him, and she keeps the information to herself.

Alex follows Adam to a meeting with Zephyr and Wymark. She sees him hand over the stolen disk to them - but then she is apprehended by Zephyr. Alex and Adam are both taken to the villains' base and secured.

The badly wounded Ros is rushed into hospital. A bullet has lodged in her brain. Jan is horrified. After feeling guilty over Michaelson's death in the previous episode, she now blames herself completely for Ros's potentially fatal injury. Jan leaves Ed at the hospital, and just walks away.

Beckett is worried about Ros but his immediate concern is to stop the villains using Catflap. He meets the designer of the program who tells him that there are only six computers in the country which are powerful enough to run it.

Zephyr and Wymark also discover that they need a special computer to run the Catflap program. Zephyr searches the internet for information, and discovers that the Hospital possesses a suitable computer.

Adam tries to defend his behaviour against Alex's justified complaints. He explains he stole the disk purely because Alex's life was threatened. He admits to stealing money from his employers, and knows this was stupid. He did it, he says, just because he was in love: he wanted to do the best possible for Alex.

Back in the Bureau, Beckett is amazed to see Jan clearing her desk. She is resigning. Beckett tries to dissuade her but is not successful. Jan returns to her flat.

Ros is given brain scans, and an eminent brain surgeon, Mr Chandra, is summoned to operate.

Beckett is amazed to hear that Dent, from the Hive, has been appointed Acting DOIC in Jan's place. Dent has plans to curtail Bureau operations, making it a less maverick organisation. He also suggests darkly that Beckett's future may be in doubt. In the meantime, Dent posts armed guards at the vulnerable sites that have computers able to run Catflap.

Zephyr and Wymark get past the armed guards at the hospital by the simple expedient of Wymark pretending to have a heart attack: an ambulance brings them inside.

Mr Chandra, the brain surgeon arrives. The operation starts, watched by Ed, Beckett, and Ros's mother.

Zephyr and Wymark locate the computer they need. The computer is being used to process brain scan images for Ros's operation. Wymark and Zephyr break in, disrupt the sending of brain images, and use the computer to intercept a large money transfer. Ed and Beckett rush to the computer room to investigate, but arrive only after Zephyr and Wymark have hi-jacked the money transfer and diverted it their own bank. Wymark and Zephyr are pursued through the hospital. They fire shots which damage electrical equipment. Once again, Ros’s operation is interrupted and her life hangs in the balance - until Beckett and Ed restore the electrical supply.

Jan is on the phone to Beckett enquiring about Ros, when Dent arrives. He is relieved that the Catflap disk has been recovered and tells Beckett to let others pursue Wymark and Zephyr. Dent mentions further plans for re-organisation of the Bureau and also criticises Jan. Jan herself overhears this on the open telephone line, and is incensed.

Alex and Adam have escaped from their confinement and pass on vital information about the whereabouts of Wymark's bank. Jan is finally stirred from her melancholy mood, and swings back into action.

Beckett, Ed, Jan, Alex and Adam all meet up at the bank – seconds after Wymark and Zephyr have turned the electronic transfer which they hijacked into cash. Wymark and Zephyr see the Bugs Team and make a run for it.

Alex corners Zephyr and they fight. Alex comes off worse and is about to be shot by Zephyr – when Adam saves her life.

Wymark is chased on to a roof. He attempts to descend but falls to his death. All the money is recovered.

Alex agrees to go ahead with the wedding, in spite of Adam’s criminal behaviour and the fact that he may well go to prison.

The final scenes take place at Alex’s wedding… After the ceremony Adam notices a mysterious guest, Stefano. Ros then sees Adam and Stefano arguing. A little later, Adam is mysteriously shot and killed. Meanwhile Ros and Beckett have been captured by Stefano….
