Out of the Hive: Elena Johnson

Elena Johnson

Cotterell’s partner, Elena initially uses Alan Moore’s position as head of Hive Security to try and steal SACROS from Ballantyne and Ed. Unsuccessful, she tracks down and kills Ballantyne before he can inform Beckett of her location. She then coldly and cleanly disposes of Moore in a massive explosion which destroys a floating restaurant. Beckett is tied up at Elena’s home and she is about to kill him when Ed intervenes, forcing her to flee. She is responsible for her and Cotterell’s death when the car she is driving shoots off a stretch of incomplete road: the ensuing explosion also destroys SACROS.

Out of the Hive: Cotterell

Cotterell

Elena’s partner for many years (as a photograph taken from Elena’s home by Ros proves via computer aging) and Beckett’s immediate superior at The Hive, Cotterell is quick to notice the potential of SACROS as a weapon of blackmail, and quicker to try and remove the device from the Hive. Dies with his partner as they try to evade Ros, Beckett and Ed.

Out of the Hive: Alan Moore

Alan Moore and Security

Alan Moore is the Head of Security from The Hive, and it is soon apparent he is keen to have a part of the wealth SACROS is capable of generating. Involved in the initial (and unsuccessful) attempt to obtain SACROS from Ballantyne and Ed, Moore promises Elena security codes that will allow Cotterell to leave The Hive with SACROS. He is also instrumental for apprehending Beckett as he tries to leave with the DAT tape on which he believes is the sound of Ballantyne being shot. Once he has served his purpose Elena has no difficulties in disposing of him.

Assassins, Inc.: Irene Campbell

Irene Campbell

Head of Cyberscope, Irene is a ruthless businesswoman with few scruples and little regard for who she uses to get her own way. She is happy to lie to Beckett and uses him to remove vital files from Cyberscope’s mainframe, which prevents Roland Blatty from proving she is selling illegal arms. She then authorises her associate Morasco to try and kill both Beckett and Ros with voice-activated bombs, and uses Ed as a human guinea-pig to prove that a pheromone-specific virus is specific. It’s poetic justice therefore that she dies by activating one of her own bombs…

Assassins, Inc.: Peter Morasco

Peter Morasco

Irene’s assistant, Morasco is confident at the side of his employer. It is Morasco who suggests to Campbell the use of the voice activated bombs to eliminate two thirds of the Bugs team, and who cleanly and emotionlessly sets up and primes the devices. It is also Morasco who sends a flying miniature assassin to intercept and potentially eliminate Ed. However, his confidence is his downfall as Ros’ cunning forces him to reveal the secret of curing Ed’s illness, before he dies in the explosion with his employer…

Assassins, Inc.: "Embassy Man"

"Embassy Man"

The sworn and bitter enemy of the Regent in Exile, the Embassy man approaches Irene first to assassinate the Regent himself, and then to produce a genetically engineered ethnic cleanser. Beckett however is able to thwart his plans and eradicate the deadly plague with a flamethrower.

All Under Control: Quentin Elverson

Quentin Elverson

Inventor of the NavCom "Fly by Wire" computer system. Rather an eccentric, he is obsessed with gadgets, and is an expert at avionics. Elverson (also known as Icarus) tries to demonstrate to Jerry Langford that planes no longer need pilots and are capable of flying themselves.. In the process he joins forces with Wyman to extort five million from the airport, using a transmitter inside a number of plane’s autopilot control systems. Whilst looking for one such bug Ros is trapped aboard a plane piloted by Elverson from his windmill home, and is left stranded in mid-air. Elverson, once his accomplice has the money, is happy to bring the plane down safely (being concerned for the damage it would cause if simply allowed to remain airborne) but before he can do so is shot by Wyman…

All Under Control: Richard Wyman

Richard Wyman

Technical director at the Airport, Wyman appears bumbling and vague, but is in reality a calculating individual who intentions to extort the Airport go almost to plan. Volunteering to travel with Todd and the ransom money it is an easy task to dispose of the Security Chief: however, Beckett is far more dogged in pursuit and Wyman eventually meets his end as his car crashes into a stationary truck…

All Under Control: Kirkby

Kirkby

Enthusiastic plane-spotter and friend of Elverson who initially helps the Nav-Com inventor by sending the Airport Icarus' ransom note by fax. Killed (presumably by Wyman) whe it becomes apparent he may link the Bugs team to the blackmail plot.

Down Among the Dead Men: Bryan Brody

Bryan Brody

Husband of Juliet, Bryan is an ex-employee of merchant bankers Kamen and Ross. Ruthless and single-minded, he is the brains of the partnership and masterminds the massive fraud that the pair hope will net them a fortune in diamonds (having unsuccessfully attempted to break into the Kamen and Ross computer himself). Motivated by greed and not love, Brody is keen to get his hands on the diamonds at whatever cost, and happily leaves both the crew of the Russian Diesel Sub he purchases and Beckett to a watery grave. In the end he’s also happy to leave his wife to face the music whilst he escapes with their ill-gotten gain…but Juliet has other ideas…

Down Among the Dead Men: Juliet Brody

Juliet Brody

Wife of Bryan, Juliet is a cold and efficient accomplice, and killer (disposing of McTiernan amongst others) whose part in the whole fraud is equally important to it’s success. It is Juliet that co-ordinates Beckett and Ed’s transfer to the Submarine, and who collects the diamonds bought with the fake money transfer at Jacobs Doyle. When it becomes apparent their cover is blown, Juliet has no compunction in eliminating everyone in her path to hold onto the diamonds for herself, including her husband…

Down Among the Dead Men:  McTiernan

McTiernan

An ex-Naval man with a ten year history as a commercial Diver, McTiernan steals from Marine Command vessels to obtain parts he needs to be a part of Brody’s master plan (and is happy to kill in the process). Brusque, with a history of violent behaviour, he is lured into Gizmos by Beckett posing as a financial advisor, allowing Ed to check out his Mobile Home. However, a slip by Beckett soon confirms his violent reactions, and he shoots him before returning home (though Beckett is saved by his radio transmitter!) However, by asking for his share of the spoils to be increased, McTiernan falls foul of the Brody’s, and of Juliet’s temper…

Shotgun Wedding: Alberto Corelli

Corelli & Wence

Anna Fabrizi’s political partner, Corelli’s agenda is considerably different from that of the Liberty Party. Clearly driven by darker forces, Corelli intends to sweep to power on a wave of sympathy as a result of his "partner’s" untimely demise. However, Starkey’s inability to kill Anna forces him to employ increasingly desperate and ruthless methods to ensure his prey is destroyed, and at the end is forced to draw a gun against Fabrizi himself…however, Ed’s shooting abilities bring his hostage attempt to a quick and permanent conclusion…

Shotgun Wedding: McKenzie

McKenzie

Starkey’s employer, and intermediary between him and Corelli, McKenzie becomes increasingly frustrated at Starkey’s inability to dispose of Fabrizi: he personally oversees "Starkey’s" final attempt (with Ed in Starkey’s place) and ensures that the assassin does his job: however, he doesn’t reckon on the intervention of Beckett and Ros. His last sight is the floor coming up to meet him as Beckett projects him over a balcony…

Shotgun Wedding: Starkey

Starkey

The assassin, who seems unable to eliminate Fabrizi despite an impressive array of listening devices and weapons. Annoys McKenzie by playing a taped message ("Confirm your identity") before commencing each conversation. He is eventually surrounded and shot by Wence’s men outside William Swift’s workshop.

Stealth: David O’Neill

O'Neill

Head of Tronix Design, O’Neill has built the business he now runs up from nothing, and is not a man to be trifled with. Unconcerned where he gets his money (just as long as he gets it) O’Neill is happy to deal with any one on any terms, and expects only compliance from his staff and contractors (although the Gizmos team have other ideas…). Totally uncaring, it was this attitude that forced Sarita and Davina’s father out of business ten years previously, and began the two girls on their path of revenge. Uncaring to the end, O’Neill dies by being forced into a plasma field by his own military vehicle…

Stealth: Paul Cray

Cray

Assistant to Dave O’Neill, head of Tronix Design, Cray is O’Neill’s liaison to the Bugs team, who are called in to protect Tronix’s latest automotive innovation from outside competitors desperate to get their hands on the new technology contained within. Clearly afraid of one of O’Neill’s customers, General Cardenas, the young executive finally cracks under pressure… when informed of the imminent arrival of a vehicle with a deadly plutonium-fuelled engine at Tronix, he makes a run for the nearest airport.

Stealth: Major Cardenas

Cardenas

Leader of the military group who orders the military vehicle from O’Neill, Cardenas suffers no setbacks or mistakes, as O’Neill himself learns to his cost…

Manna from Heaven: Sally

Sally

Research assistant at New Earth Foods, but in actuality a spy for Hennessy Brock. However, once Phodex is exposed as a fraud and potentially lethal Sally decides that Zander’s extortion threats would be more potent if genuine action were put behind them. Showing herself both uncaring and slightly unsettled she plans to poison the entire City’s water supply, and is literally inches away from doing so when Beckett is able to distract her: however, he can’t save her from a watery end…

Manna from Heaven: Zander

Zander

Research Director at Hennessy Brock, and Lennox’s main rival, he is desperate for Phodex’s secret. He gets more than he bargained for with Sally, and ends up at the bottom of the River after he becomes surplus to Sally’s requirements…

Hot Metal: Raymond Charlesworth

Charlesworth with Ros and Beckett

Scientist who discovered the controversial metal R6 by accident, which has unexpected explosive properties if exposed to the correct resonant frequency. Charlesworth had hoped to exploit these properties for use as a weapon. He hires Da Silva in the hope he can get hold of R6 for himself, but is hopelessly unaware of the violent world Da Silva inhabits. He is lucky to escape with his life as both Beckett and Ros believe it is his material that has killed Ed in a massive explosion

Hot Metal: Joseph Da Silva

Da Silva and the R6

Terrorist and gun for hire, Da Silva is very much the professional killer. He has access to some sophisticated sound-suppression technology, allowing him to create silent explosions, which greatly aid his goal of getting his hands on as much R6 as possible. Mindful of the metal’s potential he is happy to dispose of anyone who gets in his way, including both Wallace and Vermeer. He has reckoned without the Bugs team, however, and it by with his own gun that he meets his end…

Hot Metal: Vermeer

Vermeer

Director at Millennium Metals, Vermeer is also quick to recognise the potential financial gains to be made from R6 in the marketplace. When it becomes clear that efforts are afoot to properly secure the metal Vermeer takes the entire stock without authorisation, intending to flee the country with the R6 by boat. However, he is unaware that Da Silva, Beckett and Ros are following him. Unfortunately for him Da Silva gets to him before Beckett does, and his fate is sealed…

Hot Metal: Wallace

Wallace and Da Silva

The hapless guard who is in collusion with Da Silva: Wallace allows the terrorist easy access to Millennium Metals and is knocked unconscious for his troubles. Returning to Da Silva’s hotel room after his discharge from hospital, he demands compensation for his injuries and is met with a terminal payment…

A Sporting Chance: Peter Hunter

Hunter

Head of Sports Medicine at the International Sporting Academy, Hunter has one single-minded objective: to train athletes to win Gold Medals with the aid of Tri-meserone, which he claims is a totally legal substance. However the compound has dangerous side effects, and room full of unconscious subjects stands as testament to Hunter’s failure. He is totally unaware of Easterhaus’ true agenda and it only through Beckett’s intervention that the bumbling scientist doesn’t meet an untimely end…

A Sporting Chance: Colonel Conrad Easterhaus

Easterhaus

A warfare junkie, Easterhaus has no concern with Hunter’s dream of super-athletes, he is more concerned with creating an army of super-soldiers, and will stop at nothing to ensure that Hunter finds the correct formula, including putting Ros’ life in danger. A true soldier, he is ruthless and dogged in pursuit of his goal: so much so that he is blindly unaware of his own fate being sealed…

A Sporting Chance: Hex

Hex

Easterhaus’ right hand man, a fiercely loyal and committed soldier, Hex is the first person to be injected with Hunter’s working Tri-meserone. Even with enhanced abilities he is unable to save himself from electrocution.

Pulse: Jean-Daniel (Recurring Character, Season 2)

Jean-Daniel...
...and his bazooka...

The "infant terrible" of a French criminal family, Jean-Daniel may look imposing and unintelligent, but is in reality a veritable criminal genius (with a particular flair for computers and electronics). Having left the Foreign Legion after he believed the training not sufficiently tough, he returned to head a criminal family with strong drug connections. Using his younger brother as a cover for his own activities Jean Daniel hatches a brilliant scheme to cripple the financial centres of London and Geneva, but is thwarted by the Bugs team. With his brother dead, Jean-Daniel is sent to prison…

Pulse: Patric Marcel

Patric Marcel

Jean-Daniel’s younger (and considerably less intelligent) brother, Patric fronts the data recovery company Computer Recall which collects and stores computer backups from a number of small companies. As ruthless and cold as his brother Patric has an eye for the ladies but not for the obvious as he blithely consigns himself to death by remaining behind the two pulse rockets as they fire…
