Blaze of Glory: Channing Hardy
(Recurring character Season 3, Episodes 1 to 7 and Season 4)

Entrepreneurial businessman who approaches Ros Henderson with a view to licensing her inventions both at home, and overseas. The first invention (a credit card sized camera capable of recording an hours worth of video) is a massive best seller, leading to a Mark Two version. Channing also develops a number of micro-GPS items of jewellery (including a charm bracelet and a tiepin) A committed salesman at any opportunity, Channing has problems interacting with Ros’ friends, especially Beckett.

Channing is involved romantically with Ros, taking her for a weekend in Barbados (which includes an appearance at a Trade fair). Although wealthy and attractive, Channing lacks the passion and excitement that Ros finds with Nick Beckett, which leads her to refuse an offer to move to the US and to finish the intimate nature of the relationship.

 

Blaze of Glory: Christopher McHaig

Christopher McHaig

Son of Andrew McHaig and twin brother of Kitty McHaig, Chris kills himself on his birthday by throwing himself from a crane on his father’s construction site. This action is responsible for Kitty’s attempts to sabotage her father’s business.

Attractive female specialist responsible for Ed’s welfare whilst recovering from serious back injuries in hospital

 

The Revenge Effect: Gilbert Gallerne

Gilbert Gallerne

Manager of the Offshore Bank where Kitty McHaig has the bulk of her wealth. He is completely fooled by Alex’s "impersonation" of Ros Henderson and allows her access to the password control section of the bank, giving her the opportunity to ascertain where the bulk of McHaig’s funds have been transferred to.

 

The Revenge Effect: The Duchess of Fortezza

Duchess of Fortezza

Attractive Italian socialite who Kitty McHaig intends to eliminate, allowing her to assume the Duchess' identity. Ros and Beckett are able to intercept her arrival at the airport before Kitty's henchman has a chance to leave with her.

 

 

The Price of Peace: Pieter van Straaten

Pieter Van Straaten

Part of the large Van Straaten Diamond Empire, Pieter is better known as a International peacemaker and arbitrator, most recently of the Virghizian problem in Eastern Europe. His dismissal of Trozek from the negotiating table led to a breakthrough in the peace process. His kidnap by Trozek and Chenlov is incidental (as it is Beckett’s knowledge of Project Darkling that the pair are really concerned with) but Trozek is persuaded to use him to try and steal diamonds from his own firm, without success.

 

 

Hollow Man: Ethan Rockridge

Ethan Rockridge

Charismatic and extremely wealthy inventor of the hologram for use on credit cards, Rockridge works with the Finance Minister to help create the first unforgeable £100 note for the Bank of England. However it becomes apparent that he is being blackmailed by Lewis Drake: despite his claims that only one machine exists to produce the notes he has had another built exclusively for Drake’s use at an independent printers. A man doomed by his own need to be successful, and his reticence to give up the good life he has become accustomed to, he lies and deceives Ros initially but is given a chance by her to redeem himself which he takes. However, soon afterwards he is shot by Drake…

 

 

Nuclear Family: Nikolai Rostov

Nikolai Rostov

Elderly president of an ex-Soviet state, Rostov is suffering from a serious illness which has the potential to kill him if not treated immediately. Flown to Britain by the Bureau for private medical care (in exchange for the promise that Medusa Nuclear missiles will be decommissioned) his life is threatened on several occasions before he can be admitted into hospital for treatment. He is shot at and the vital serum he needs to stabilise a blood condition is all but destroyed. It eventually becomes apparent that it is Rostov’s son who is trying to kill him, blaming his father for the death of his mother.

 

Nuclear Family: Natayla Rostov

Natayla Rostov

 

Second wife of President Rostov, and a former concert pianist of considerable note. Nataylia is kidnapped in an attempt to force Rostov to bargain for her life with Medusa Missiles, but her husband refuses to negotiate with the terrorists (led by Bridget Kay) Kidnapped with Nick Beckett, it is he who is responsible for saving her life, and in return she offers him some valuable information concerning his relationship with Ros…

 

Nuclear Family: Varetsky

Varetsky

Head of Security for Rostov, Varetsky is initially unimpressed by the Bureau’s efforts at security but earns respect for the team by their actions. Grigori Rostov shoots him (though not fatally) in his final attempt to kill his father.

 

 

Fugitive: Carla Davis

Carla Davis

Grade Five Field Officer for SSD responsible for the interrogation of Ros Henderson following her arrest under the Official Secret’s Act. A determined and single-minded operative, she refuses to believe Ros is innocent of the crime accused until confronted with her boss’ duplicity. Shot by Gage when she deduces the truth but helped to escape by Ros.

 

Fugitive: Douglas Reinhold

Douglas Reinhold

Davis’ partner and fiancé, he is also responsible for Ros’ questioning, but is killed by Gage when he becomes aware that his boss is responsible for the raids on Government Arms dumps.

 

 

Happy Ever After: Julia Fairchild

Julia and one of her Kidnappers

Daughter of Sir Anthony Fairchild and Goddaughter of Jan, Julia is used by Mark Curtis in his attempts to scupper the National Water Grid project. Trapped with Ed inside the Central Intake Station she is tenacious in her attempts to release them both.

 

Happy Ever After: Sir Anthony Fairchild (Re-ocurring character, Season 3 Episodes 8 & 9)

Fairchild and Beckett

Government Minister and overseer of the National Water Grid project, Fairchild is not the most popular of the current crop of Government officials. He is close friends with DOIC Jan (and was linked with her romantically some years previously), and recommends her for a seat on the National Security Executive for continued devotion to duty. Holder of the Bureau’s Beta Key card when David Lance and Elaine Harman attempt to embezzle Bureau funds, who is shot after he is discovered in Jan’s flat with Beckett by Lance and his accomplice.

 

 


Buried Treasure: Minister

Minister

Government minister who asks Jan to investigate Roger Delamere’s attempt to abduct the Nation’s National Art treasures. Killed by Athena (aka Sasha) when he fails to co-operate with her plans.

 

 

Identity Crisis: Spring

Spring

Manager of the Consolidated Clearing bank, who hold the accounts for Bureau Two, and who Lance and Harman unsuccessfully attempt to embezzle. Kidnapped by Harman, he escapes unhurt.
