Ros' Season 1 Biography

Name: Roslyn Henderson  Date of Birth: November 12th, 196-something
Background Information: (Season 1)

With a strong will and quick mind, Ros is the computer and microelectronic specialist of the Gizmos team. Her skills were developed early: apart from her obvious intelligence she was also a keen athlete during her teens, running for her school in the 1500 metres [S1E9]. Needlework however was NOT one of her strong points [S1E5]. During her time at University she was renowned for her ability to identify a location from it’s recorded background sounds alone [S1E7] and at that time was close friends with Bureau Of Weapon’s Chief Roland Blatty, a relationship she still maintains [S1E2]. The Hive attempted to recruit Ros after her time at University but were unsuccessful: they choose in their file on her to describe Ros as someone who "researches and develops clandestine surveillance equipment for supply to freelance markets" [S1E1] She has taken over the running of Gizmos from Terry [S1E1] and is quick to notice the potential of both Beckett and Ed to work with her as a team.

Ros does not suffer fools gladly, and has little time for anyone who will not take her colleagues, or herself, seriously: a brilliant problem-solver, her flair with computers makes even the seemingly-impossible tasks look simple [S1E2]. She also takes a dim view of anyone who looks at her simply as a woman and not as a person [S1E6]. Fiercely defensive and dogged, she is determined to see a job through to the end, at whatever cost [S1E4] [S1E6] [S1E7], and especially if one of her colleagues is in danger [S1E2]. A keen and adept driver [S1E1] [S1E7] she enjoys driving anything unusual [S1E10] but is distinctly uncomfortable when not in control for herself [S1E3] Constantly tinkering and inventing new devices for use "in the field" [S1E5] she occasionally worries that Beckett and Ed are too keen to get involved for their own good [S1E5]. She has shown that she is willing to sacrifice herself if it means others can be saved [S1E7] but still has a strong streak of self-preservation which keeps her going under the most difficult of circumstances [S1E9]. Ros is as good a shot as her male colleagues [S1E8] and is always prepared to try every avenue of approach before admitting defeat [S1E9]

Ros' Season 2 Biography

Background Information (Season 2)

Ros Henderson is now very much a part of a team with her two male partners, happy most of the time to allow either Ed or Beckett to take a front seat in the organising of Gizmos. Ros’ ability to learn quickly and think on her feet [S2E1] [S2E2 is one of the major contributory factors in protecting the well-being of her friends, and she is not afraid to take risks if it will mean lives can be saved [S2E5], [S2E7]. Ros has a passion for chemistry [S2E6] which certainly comes as an advantage in the new areas Gizmos expands into, as does her acting ability [S2E7]. Her computing and electronics skills however are still without parallel [S2E3], [S2E5] and her services are useful not only for her own team, but also for others [S2E8] and it is clear that her composure under pressure [S2E5] has undoubtedly saved many lives. Ros also has friends in the power industry [S2E5], one of whom she may have been briefly linked to romantically.

However, the intervention of Cyberax [S2E9] [S2E10] and the loss of her friend Roland Blatty to the virus push her loyalty and trust to breaking point with her partners. Whilst searching for the truth she is not afraid to act on her own initiative, and shows she is more than capable of holding her own against any opposition. It will take time to ascertain whether there are any long-term effects on Ros’ memory from Cyberax or as a result of the prolonged period of brain-death she sustained after being deliberately electrocuted…

Ros' Season 3 Biography

Background Information (Season 3)

Ros’ emotional side comes to the fore in this Season with the first real glimpse of a permanent relationship, in the form of Channing Hardy [S3E1] Initially introduced as Ros’ business manager it becomes clear that the relationship is considerably more than just professional. Ros takes a "working" holiday with Channing to the Bahamas [S3E3] but on her return seems more interested in discussing her passion for cricket than the details of the trip. Ros’ inventions are now making her a great deal of money [S3E1] allowing her to move from her small flat to occupy three floors of a luxury town house. However it soon becomes lonely in such a large house and Ros eventually moves into Channing’s home [S3E5] Her reputation is now not inconsiderable and such luminaries of the electronics world as Ethan Rockridge [S3E4] know her name and her abilities. However it becomes clear that Ros’ love for the Bureau and for its Chief is greater than that for Channing, and after turning down an offer to become head of Research at Hardy’s new US HQ [S3E6] Ros becomes increasingly close to Nick Beckett. It takes the Roland Blatty’s behaviour [S3E10] to make her realise it is Beckett whom she truly loves.

Ros has an on-off relationship with DOIC Jan at the Bureau, and often does not see eye to eye with her superior [S3E2], [S3E10] It is obvious her skill base has expanded in her time with Ed and Beckett: impersonation skills have improved [S3E3], but there are still occasions where even she is flummoxed [S3E6]). Ros is wrongly accused of duplicity with a known criminal [S3E6] but cleared of any charges, and is forced to endure severe mental pressure from which she is quick to recover. She is also prepared to work even after sustaining injuries herself [S3E7] if it will help her colleagues in a moment of need. Moving again to a more modest apartment [S3E10] Ros’ whereabouts are currently unknown, as it is believed she has been kidnapped…
